"Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev visited the State of Qatar"

On 4-5 April, 2016 Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev visited the State of Qatar.

On April 04, 2016, Culture and Tourism Minister of Azerbaijan Mr. Abulfas Garayev met with Minister of Economy and Commerce of The State of Qatar Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani in Doha.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed the two countries' bilateral relations and aspects of cooperation especially in the field of tourism. The Qatari side was informed about the tourism infrastructure and potential of Azerbaijan. The sides discussed about the measures to be taken in order to increase the number of tourists come from both countries.

The meeting was attended by Azerbaijan Ambassador to Qatar Mr.Tofiq Abdullayev and Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) senior officials. 

On April 04, 2016 Culture and Tourism Minister of Azerbaijan Mr. Abulfas Garayev met with the Minister of Culture and Sports of The State of Qatar Mr. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali in the building of the National Theatre of Qatar in Doha 

The ministers discussed bilateral cooperation issues in the fields of culture and sports and the possibilities of strengthening of the relations in two fields in the future. Mr. Abulfas Garayev informed his Qatari counterpart about the Global Forum to be held in Baku and invited him to participate in the Forum.

During the meeting issues belong to arranging of mutual cultural days, week of Azerbaijani Cinema in Qatar, visit of theatre groups from both countries, organizing of other cultural events in both countries and enhancing of cooperation between the museums were discussed by the sides.

The ministers, also discussed the joint cooperation issues regarding the Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Azerbaijanin 2017.

On April 04, 2016 Culture and Tourism Minister of Azerbaijan Mr. Abulfas Garayev met with Mr. Ali Al Rais – Qatar Airways Senior Vice President Aeropolitical and Regulatory Affairs in Doha.

Arrangement of joint flights by Azerbaijani and Qatari Airways Companies, inauguration of flights to Kabala and Ganja international airports of Azerbaijan and other issues of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting.

On April 05, 2016 Culture and Tourism Minister of Azerbaijan Mr. Abulfas Garayev met with the Vice President of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Towar.

The ways of enhancing joint cooperation in different economic sectors and means of encouraging Qatari businessmen to invest in Azerbaijan and establish partnerships with their Azerbaijani counterparts were discussed by the sides.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan welcomed Qatari investments in his country in various sectors, particularly in infrastructure, real estate, industry, agriculture and food manufacturing, among others, adding that there were promising investment opportunities in Azerbaijan and encouraging investment climate.

He added that his country attaches great importance to the State of Qatar, calling on Qatari businessmen to visit his country to explore investment opportunities available, meet with Azeri counterparts and visit industrial and economic zones there.

For his part, the QCCI Vice President stressed the chamber’s welcome to strengthening cooperation between entrepreneurs from both sides, pointing out that Qatari businessmen were willing to explore the opportunities available in Azerbaijan.

On April 4, 2016 Presentation of tourism potential of Azerbaijan and a press conference dedicated to this were arranged in Doha.

The Azerbaijani delegation lead by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan participated at the event. The potential of Azerbaijani tourism was presented to the participants of the event from public and private sectors representatives of Qatar.

The Minister Abulfas Qarayev in his speech expressed the  interest of Azerbaijanin the increasing of the number of tourists come from the Gulf region, informing about the tourism infrastructure and potential of Azerbaijan and he invited everyone to visit Azerbaijan.
